In addition to regular online meetings, members of the ERC research group Sovereignty meet in person twice a year. The purpose of these events is to engage in intensive collaborative workshop sessions, prepare publications, and discuss professional and practical issues. The venue for this year’s first meeting was the guesthouse and conference center located next to the convent of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Saviour in Bratislava (Centrum Salvator). Our colleague Agáta Šústová Drelová took on the organization of the three-day event.
All research fellows of the project participated in the workshop. On April 27, after our arrival, we discussed issues related to the upcoming international conference in Rome. On April 28 and 29, we worked on the analytical monograph that will examine the history of bishops’ oaths of allegiance in the Habsburg Empire and its successor states. We determined the book’s structure and main questions, then discussed the manuscripts written by the researchers.
